The Georgetown Emergency Response Medical Service (also known as GERMS or Georgetown EMS) is an all-volunteer, student-run emergency ambulance service. GERMS operates basic life support ambulances that serve Georgetown University and the broader Georgetown community. GERMS is in service 24 hours per day, 7 days per week during Georgetown’s Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. When GERMS is out of service over select holidays, Georgetown University contacts District of Columbia Fire and Emergency Medical Services to respond to medical emergencies.
